The newly upgraded Auburn town centre was formally opened by the mayor, Councillor Hicham Zraika in a ceremony on site, on 26 June, 2014.

In his address, the General Manager, Mark Brisby, stated that, “... the completion of the town centre upgrade is a triumph for both Council and the Auburn community”. He also noted that the project was delivered on time and under budget.

COMPLETE Urban’s involvement with this major project began with the development of the original concept plan in 2010 and continued through detail design and documentation, to construction supervision.

The documentation and site supervision stages of the project were under the control of our Senior Civil Engineer, Ian Grieves, and construction was by Statewide Civil.

Local school students were invited to put forward ideas towards the final design and a competition led to the selection of a unique bike rack design by the winning competitor.

The project involved the reconstruction of the whole of the road infrastructure in the main commercial centre, which occurs south of the railway line. The fundamental goal was to create generous and safe pedestrian space for all users of the centre.
