What our staff say:

Alice McCosker, Graduate Civil Engineer & Designer

What has your career path been like at Complete Urban?

I feel very lucky to have been offered the opportunities I have at COMPLETE. They have allowed me to get involved in all teams (Urban design, Civil Engineering and Project management), instead of pigeon holing me into one area. I have learnt skills through the variety of projects we do, as well as gained additional qualifications from training courses offered to me by COMPLETE.Coming out of Uni I was uncertain exactly what I wanted to do, and still don’t really know, but COMPLETE offers a variety, and I am comfortable knowing that I can continue to develop such a broad range of skills and COMPLETE will support that.

What is the best part of your role?

The majority of our projects are for local councils and public spaces, and I think it’s a magic outcome of my job to be able to build and design our cities for the future. It’s rewarding to think I’m making a change and developing better spaces for people to live and interact.

Why do you work here?

COMPLETE has a multi-disciplinary team that allows me to exercise a variety of skills and gain experience in a broad range of jobs. From Civil Engineering and Urban Design to Project Management, I have been given the opportunity to develop a whole range of skills I wouldn’t get at another larger company.

What is the team like?

A friendly and fun group of people, work is never a dull place to be. Everyone is happy to share a laugh and lend a helping hand. I have felt welcome since the first moment I began working here.

What is your favourite part of working here?

COMPLETE throw a killer Christmas Party!

Jordan Fisher, Civil Engineer & Project Manager

What has your career path been like at Complete Urban?

I began working for COMPLETE in 2013 for my first 6-month internship as part of my Bachelor of Engineering at UTS. I was given a huge range of experiences over this time. I began mostly assisting with some basic AutoCAD drafting but I was pushed into a variety of different projects and experiences during this internship. After that, COMPLETE kept me on a casual basis while I continued studying full-time. This is one of the great aspects of COMPLETE , they encourage the development of current staff up through the company often in favour of hiring outside the organisation.

I continued to gain experience through the Project Management and Engineering fields and resumed full-time work at COMPLETE as a did my second compulsory internship. I was continually introduced to new experiences and given growing responsibilities as I continued to grow in experience. On the completion of my degree, I was offered a full-time contract with COMPLETE and continue to work for them now.

What is the best part of your role?

The best part of my role is the variety of work and the additional responsibly I get in my position. Because COMPLETE is a small firm that offers a wide range of services to their Clients, I get introduced to a wide range of projects and experiences. You don’t get as broad an experience and as much responsibility working for large construction firms.

Why do you work here?

The reason I work at COMPLETE is for the wide range of experience I am able to get, and the support from experienced staff that provide mentoring opportunities for me to improve my skills and experience. On top of the experience, it is a great work culture and a very friendly work environment.

What is the team like?

The team at COMPLETE is excellent, both professionally and socially. There is a great depth of experience through the COMPLETE team which provides great mentoring opportunities. The team has a great friendly culture, providing a great working environment.

namdi Orji, Architectural Assistant

What has your career path been like at Complete Urban?

Since joining COMPLETE my career progression has continually and interestingly evolved. I have learnt a lot about the design processes in Australia. I cannot overstate the impact the varied nature of my roles has played in developing my knowledge and skills set. I have been encouraged to broaden my expertise and skills set and develop new skills by ever helpful colleagues.

What is the best part of your role?

The tasks and challenges are different every day. One day you can be working a conceptual design, the next day you are on a different project, the next day you are working on Construction Drawings. While constantly switching between roles can be challenging, it helps to keep things interesting.

Why do you work here?

COMPLETE presents an opportunity to work on varied public building types. The size of the firms means I am given increased responsibility and opportunities to work on different aspects of projects, picking up a broad range of vital experiences that are not available in much bigger firms. Also, this role aligns with my personal development pathway to eventually becoming a registered Architect in Australia.

What is the team like?

A supportive and experienced group, they are always happy to assist others when they need a helping hand with work. It is a fun group to be a part of. I love that there is a genuine spirit of cooperation and shared goals and a dedication to getting the job done.

What is your favourite part of working here?

Most of the time you are working as part of the group to construct a building that will be around for years. That I played an active part in achieving that is a very rewarding experience.

Erin Oxnam, Corporate Support

What has your career path been like at Complete Urban?

My path at COMPLETE has been full of learning opportunities. I wasn’t familiar with the industry when I started the role, but quickly began to understand the services we provide and our relationship dynamics with Local Government. I enjoy the day to day administrative tasks but have also been fortunate to be able to work on  a variety of large and important projects including being Land Access Coordinator for the nbnTM rollout, and working on the relaunch of COMPLETE’s website.

What is the best part of your role?

I enjoy the variety of tasks I get to do and the way I’ve been able to bring my skills gathered from previous positions and find ways to utilise them at COMPLETE. I also enjoy being a central resource for the Gold Coast office and able to help team members with different and varied tasks.

What is the team like?

The team is very professional and friendly. There is varied depth and knowledge bases within the team which provides opportunities to learn from the years of experience. Everyone is always willing and able to answer any questions you have and do their best to help. The culture at COMPLETE is professional, casual, friendly and allows for an ideal working environment.

Paul Knox, Principal Landscape Architect

What has your career path been like at Complete Urban?

I started as an occasional landscape resource to be spliced into existing work, and the role has expanded into bringing in work, managing part of the business and having a chance to represent the company on a number of occasions.

What is the best part of your role?

I feel that I have the license to pursue design objectives as I feel they should be pursued, and that I am supported in that. I have also been able to work flexible hours in recent times, which has enabled me to pursue some other ambitions – such as participating in a voluntary youth mentoring program targeting high school students.

Why do you work here?

I am totally on board with the focus of the company on public domain, public clients.

What is the team like?

Young, hard-working, talented, generally tolerant of my foibles.
