Molong Library and Community Centre

Location: Molong, NSW
Project type: Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering
Budget: $800,000
Status: Completed
Organisation: Cabonne Council

COMPLETE Urban have been engaged by Cabonne as designers for the new Molong Library and Community Centre. The new facility has been designed as an extension to an existing community hall and provides a small library of 280m2 and multipurpose, flexible community rooms comprising internal and external spaces able to be used in a variety of ways by both the library and Council independently of each other. The site is a challenging site which is sloped and located within the Molong Heritage listed streetscape.

COMPLETE Urban’s design response has been to step the new building down to follow the slope of the land and articulate the facade to reflect the materials and streetscape character of the nearby buildings. The building uses a range of domestic materials that are already common in the street. A small car park is provided at the rear of the building and shared amenities for the library, community room and community hall are also included in the project.
