COMPLETE were engaged to prepare a concept design for the proposed redevelopment of the existing sports facility at Wendy Allison Park. The current building provides clubhouse accommodation for the local soccer and netball clubs and despite the building being well patronised the building is extremely run down and beyond economic repair. COMPLETE work shopped accommodation requirements with The Council and club members and prepared a concept plan for a new 2 storey building that included change rooms and toilets on the ground floor with a clubhouse, bar, kitchen and administration areas on the upper floor overlooking the playing fields.
The existing site is narrow and the natural topography created some access issues. COMPLETE addressed these by incorporating an access ramp from the street and the carpark that will be used by everyone. The design of the building uses solid materials for the lower floor and lightweight materials on the upper floor with lots of glass overlooking the balcony and playing fields. COMPLETE also provided a cost estimate of the concept design to assist Council with future funding applications.
