Project type: Architectural
Budget: $8.8m (Construction Value)
Status: Design Phase
Organisation: Scenic Rim Regional Council

Complete Urban are undertaking the detailed design of the new Beaudesert Community Hub and Library for Scenic Rim Regional Council. The new building is to replace the current Beaudesert Library. Following on from the Business Case Analysis undertaken by Complete Urban in 2019, it was decided that the proposed new building will be built as an extension to the existing Council building and will provide almost 2000m2 of new accommodation on one single level. There will be an undercroft carpark provide space for 38 vehicles. The building provides a variety of modern community hub and library accommodation including community meeting rooms and function areas, Maker Space, media room, children’s library and general collection and reading areas.

The library is entered through the existing Council entry in order to provide a single community ‘one stop shop’ for Council and community services. The layout is flexible and is able to be separated off into various zones to enable out of hours activities to be held without compromising overall building security. The building is a contemporary design that also references the historical building forms and traditional materials of Beaudesert. The building will feature a number of sustainable initiatives including energy monitoring, high performance facades and glazing, solar collection and roof water collection and storage.
