McQuade Park is a beloved state heritage-listed park in Windsor, NSW.McQuade Park was set aside by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1810 and since 1840, cricket has been played on this sought-after oval.
COMPLETE Urban were engaged to develop a business case for the WestInvest grant funding application. The business case proposed the following key improvements to the park:
- Increased tree plantings with improved biodiversity including the maintenance of the historic tree corridor through the heritage listed church.
- McQuade Oval will be upgraded to cater for rugby and feature a new and improved cricket pitch.
- Additional elements include a café nestled in the greenspace with a deck overlooking the pond, improvements and extension to the grandstand, an event space, a new playground, outdoor fitness stations along pathways and disabled parking and amenities.
The proposed upgrades to the historically significant McQuade Park aligns with Council’s long-term vision for the town centres and park to satisfy the communities current need and future generations requirements for improved sports facilities.
