As one of the key areas for Cumberland Councils Delivery Program 2017-2021, COMPLETE Urban were engaged to assist with the design and construction management of Merrylands Road CBD rejuvenation. .The aim for Merrylands Rd CBD Footpath Upgrade is to construct a contemporary streetscape fit for purpose in one of Western Sydney’s highly multicultural suburbs. COMPLETE was awarded the design of the initial scope (Merrylands Road, from Addlestone Road to Military Road) which progressed to the award of project and contract management services in March(contract value $140k). The project scope has since grown to include footpath upgrades up Pitt Street, along Military Road and down Memorial Avenue.

The project comprises of the following:

  • Demolition and disposal of existing footways, partial road pavement, street furniture, sections of kerb & gutters
  • Reconstruction of kerb and gutter sections, sections of road pavement, footpaths and kerb ramps, ensuring compliance to Australian Standards.
  • Supply and installation of blue stone pavers, street furniture, stormwater pit & associated pipework, line marking and landscaping Since commencing in March 2019, progress over the past 5 months have been high with approximately 70% of all major construction works including the installation of the new bluestone footpath pavers now completed in Zones 1 and 2 for the project.

Additionally, Cumberland Council provided the approval to extend the SOW in June to include a larger portion of Pitt St (Pitt Street to Milne Lane). Due to the rate of progress onsite, and COMPLETE’s ability to produce design documentation to a tight deadline, the project is well on track for practical completion and hand over before Christmas 2019.
