New Student Accommodation Building SA6 (Australian National University)
Location: Canberra, NSW
Project type: Landscape Architecture
Budget: $1,500,000
Status: Completed
Organisation: Australian National University
The Australian National University proposes to build an approximately 800 bed residential building on the Acton campus, between Daley Road and Clunies Ross Street, generally on the site known as Bruce Hall.
Design considerations included:
- The nature of the site presentation to the Clunies Ross Street frontage
- The relation of the proposed development to the historically significant University Avenue axis – both in terms of the formal aspects and the functional aspects such as the organisation of circulation
- Integration of cycle and pedestrian access into the campus at this point
- The relationship of the building group to Daley Road and possible adjustments to the road to suit pedestrian, cycle and vehicular movements
Architecture is by Nettleton Tribe.
