South Pine Sports Complex

Location: Brendale, QLD
Project type: Multidisciplinary, Architectural, Engineering
Budget: $23M
Status: Completed
Organisation: Moreton Bay Regional Council

COMPLETE Urban undertook design and construction documentation for the new South Pine Sports Complex for City of Moreton Bay.

The project includes four new full size soccer fields, two new clubhouses and amenities buildings, spectator areas and carparking. These were built on an original Council-owned turf farm. The existing turf farm infrastructure was relocated to another part of the site as part of the project. The site also incorporated a new East/West pedestrian/cycle way that ties the new complex into the existing indoor sports facility to the West and to provide a connection to the future sports precinct to the East. Prior to commencement, there were 2 existing soccer fields at the western end of the site and these were incorporated into the design of the new facility. The site is flood prone and the buildings were raised above flood level creating elevated viewing terraces for 3 of the 6 fields. A large central open, community space was provided between both buildings comprising extensive lawn, landscape and shelter areas.

The project was completed early in 2024 and in May 2024, the project received the Community Facility of the Year Award QLD at the Parks and Leisure Australia 2024 awards and has been shortlisted for the National Community Facility of the Year award, to be announced in October 2024.
