Complete Urban have been engaged to undertake a Concept Design and Development Application for a proposed community centre at Windsor.
The site is constrained by flood impacts and an existing large central fig tree. Complete Urban’s design seeks to overcome these constraints by elevating the building above the flood level and designing the building’s layout so it wraps around the tree and creates a central courtyard that provides access to all spaces.
The building is split into 2 separate sections in order to provide an entrance to the rear courtyard.
The site is adjacent to the Brisbane Institute of Arts facility (BIA) and the site layout also strengthens the connection to this facility. Stage 2 of the project incorporates some of the functions BIA to create a holistic community facility across the whole site.
