Urunga CBD Upgrade

Location: Urunga, NSW
Project type: Landscape Architecture
Budget: Estimated $5.6M
Status: Design Completed
Organisation: Bellingen Shire Council

The Urunga CBD Upgrade involved the concept design, planning, and delivery of streetscape and public domain improvements within the Urunga town centre. Works included road corridor and intersection upgrades, footpaths and shared paths, tree-sensitive boardwalk treatments, landscape works, urban furniture, lighting, and integrated stormwater management.

Concept design was developed to reflect and reinforce Urunga’s seaside village character, with a strong focus on walkability, public realm amenity, and connection to the coastal lifestyle. Design development was undertaken within a fixed grant funding envelope, requiring careful scope prioritisation and value management.

The project included detailed 3D modelling, visualisations, and animated fly-throughs to support Council decision-making and community consultation, clearly communicating design intent while aligning outcomes with budget, constructability, and approval requirements.
