Casburn Park

Location: Wingello, NSW
Project type: Landscape Architecture
Budget: $2.3M
Status: Completed
Organisation: Wingecarribee Shire Council

After the devastating 2020 bushfires, Casburn Park served as a central hub for courageous volunteers and a critical gathering point for the community. Now, thanks to a $2.5 million grant from the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Package, the beloved Casburn Park has been transformed!

COMPLETE were engaged by Wingecarribee Shire Council to undertake detailed design and documentation for Casburn Park Upgrade. Works were completed in June 2024 and the park was transformed into a vibrant and active public space catering for all sectors of the community.

The park is connected to the adjacent community building with a series of flexible outdoor spaces. Pedestrian access is provided via ramps at multiple locations along Railway Parade to improve connectivity to the town. Other spaces created include:

  • Village Plaza with an elevated deck area overlooking an informal gathering space
  • Picnic lawn area and public amenities
  • ½ court basketball court
  • Playspace with softfall and shade sail
  • Zipline and bike trail
  • Pump track

New landscaping was provided throughout and the layout ensured that many existing mature trees were retained. The design is a low maintenance solution with many natural materials including stone, timber and deco granite.
