Gold Coast City Council and Disability Services Queensland partnered to jointly fund an ‘All Abilities Playground’ at Kurrawa Pratten Park. Council engaged COMPLETE as Architects and Landscape Architects.
The project recognises the fundamental importance of play in the health, wellbeing and learning of all children, regardless of their age or ability. The playground provides access for all children to experience fun, interactive and challenging play, with their families and carers, in an enjoyable and relaxing environment.
The playground is purposefully-designed to include sensory, motor, imagination and educational aspects of play; whilst responding to the community’s needs, identified throughout the consultation phase. The project involved a multi-disciplinary team, including landscape architecture, architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering and public art facilitation.
