COMPLETE were engaged by Ipswich City Council to undertake design and construction documentation of a new 2000m2 library and community facility at Springfield. Springfield is a new masterplanned community and Council wished to establish a new library and community facility close to the shopping centre. Suitable leased space across 2 floors was found in a new office building.
COMPLETE worked in association with CKDI and designed a new fitout comprising library, community meeting rooms, market place, ‘maker space’, 200 person event space, children’s library and public lounge area. The fitout is designed as a 24/7 space and incorporates the latest library technology including ‘Smart Blades’, Smart Lockers, and self serve kiosks. Complete commenced preliminary design work in August 2017, completed construction documentation by Christmas 2017 with the library being officially opened in August 2018.
