Complete Urban was engaged by Southern Downs Regional Council to undertake the design and documentation of the expansion of the existing Stanthorpe Library and Art Gallery.
The current Stanthorpe Library occupies a 421m2 purpose-built facility located in Weeroona Park. The building is shared with the Stanthorpe Art Gallery. The project is a unique case where the existing building has undergone a previous expansion. The challenge to respect the existing architectural language in tandem with meeting stakeholder and Council requirements were met with a design that retained most of the significant areas of the existing structure. The design is undergoing the finalisation of a maximised extension towards Weeroona Park whilst retaining existing pathways and maintaining accessible grades.
