COMPLETE Urban were engaged by Waverley Council to provide Project Management services during the design and construction of a kiosk and Surf Life Save Club storage building at Tamarama Park.
This project was very important to Waverley Council as it was in public eye and one of Sydney’s premier beaches. The project needed to be complete in time for the start of Sculptures by the Sea, the biggest event held in Waverley each year. The construction works consisted of two separate buildings, a kiosk, toilet and shower block, workers lunch room and bush care store on the south side of the park, the SLSC store and a lifeguards first aid room on the north side of the park. New hard and soft landscape works were also part of the project. A timber deck was also constructed to provide an outdoor dining area for the kiosk. Both buildings are single story with high ceilings to promote natural ventilation.
The buildings include a series of green technologies, including photovoltaic power generation, solar panels to heat the hot water supply and energy efficient lighting throughout. The timber used to clad the buildings, doors and gates and construct the deck was recycled Spotted Gum. New pedestrian paths, hardstand area, parking, lighting and planting formed part landscape works.
